Ordering repeat prescriptions

The Prescription Line will be open: 

Monday to Friday 9.30am to 11am & 2pm to 4pm.

Prescriptions can be ordered:

  • In person or by representative Via the Practice Reception Desk
  • Via the Prescription Line on the number above
  • By Post or Fax
  • Via the Managed Repeat Scheme run by the local Pharmacies
  • Via the NHS Chronic Medication Service *
  • Online via EMIS ACCESS*     https://www.patientaccess.com/

Collecting your prescription

  • A minimum of 72 HOURS notice is required for repeat prescriptions to be sent to the chemist. 
  • 48 HOURS notice is required if prescription is to be collected at the Health Centre.
  • If prescriptions are required in an emergency, please attend the Health Centre in person before 11am and we will do our best to have your prescription ready within 24 hours of request.

About our Local Pharmacy Services

Practice Attached Clinical Pharmacy Team

We currently have Laura Hughes, a General Practice Clinical Pharmacist employed by Ayrshire & Arran Health Board working with our Practice.  Laura carries our medicaltion reviews and Health Board directed prescribing projects on our behalf.

 

We also have Sharon Wright, a Pharamcy Technician and Heather Ferguson, a Pharmacy Support Worker who are also employed by Ayrshire & Arran Health Board and assist Laura to carry out medication reviews and undertake Health Board directed work on our behalf.

There are 2 community pharmacists in Girvan:

Their hours of business are displayed in their premises.

 

As qualified healthcare professionals, our Local Pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

 

Medication Reviews

 

If you have a repeat Prescription, we may ask you to come in for a medication review. We will contact you when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old Medication

If you have any out of date medication or any medication which is no longer required, please take it to your local Pharmacy for destruction.

 

Please do not put medication into your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local Pharmacist can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
